You'll be here in just under 5 weeks!
Just about 4.5 years ago I moved to Copenhagen.
A few weeks after that I met your dad.
A few weeks after that he moved to London.
Our love blossomed from a distance over two years.
Two years and 16 days ago your dad moved back to Copenhagen from London.
47 weeks ago your dad and I got married.
35 weeks ago we started trying to make you a reality/and it worked!
A few days later we learned that I had breast cancer.
Over the last almost 9 months you've been growing inside me as we await your arrival.
I have read 3 books about how to raise a happy child.
We have attended 3 birth preparations courses.
I will love you oodles.
I have zero idea what I'm getting myself into.
I was a bit slow to join the mommy bandwagon. I was busy building my career and collecting life experiences. I rarely thought about being a mom, at least not seriously, until I met your dad. What can I say? The world needs more people like your dad. I'm so honored that I'll get to be your mor alongside your father.
Every fiber of my being loves your little soul. And it is about to love you even more. It's hard to believe my priorities were ever any different.
You'll be happy to know your parents are pretty capable people (and not just by our own measure!) however, thank goodness for parental leave because, the three of us have a lot to learn.
If there is one thing I've learned over the last almost nine months of being pregnant with you and being treated for breast cancer, it's that worry and anticipation can be the toughest part. The mind is great at concocting the worst case scenario. Really, once you're in it, you figure it out. That's how your dad and I roll.
Your grandfather, farfar, who unfortunately you'll never meet, didn't believe in worry or regret. He taught your dad just to focus on what you have control over - the present moment. I'm still trying to learn that lesson and I hope you'll learn it to.

So let's take things one day at a time and try not to worry about what's to come or what has been. Hopefully we'll start by learning how to breastfeed together. Eating good food is pretty important to your parents so you tasted lots of different flavors while inside me but we're aiming for a steady diet of just my breast milk until my radiation begins. We're not sure if I'll be able to breastfeed after chemo but if not we've arranged for you to have breast milk from a donor. Only the best for you, little man.
I know you've been cozy and happy in my belly and it's going to be a shock to join us out here but the best things in life are never easy. You've got to work for them. Having a sense of accomplishment from hard work is part of what makes the good things great. And I promise you, your hard work will be rewarded. Your dad and I are going to be the very best parents we can possibly be.

So you have named your son Jack? How terrific and strong that is. But not nearly as strong as his Momma. I thank you for sharing your journey darling. I recently have some difficult conversations and I did what a lot of people do when they want to know how to do something. I googled it.
